#wemyssTT3

On the 15th of May we got invited to join in for the 44th Twitter Tasting by The Whiskywire.

In this tasting we received a lovely set of samples to explore from Wemyss Malts. Some of their latest single cask and blended expressions were included in the package:

Lord Elcho (Thomas' tastingnotes)
"Bottled at 40% alcohol by volume and crafted from a carefully chosen selection of the finest malt and grain whiskies (minimum 40% malt content)"

Pastille Bouquet - 1998-2013 - Mortlach (Thomas' tastingnotes)
"Each cask that is chosen for bottling is representative of the best characteristics of its regional origins. Wemyss meticulously hand selects each individual cask, under the expert eye of Charles Maclean who chairs their Nosing Panel. All Wemyss Single Casks are bottled at a minimum of 46%, but occasionally they come across casks of such quality that they dictate bottling at natural cask strength."

Merhant's Mahogany Chest - 1991-2013 Glen Scotia (Ansgar's tastingnotes)
"We have a very strict wood policy at Wemyss Malts, to ensure that we can consistently bottle the highest quality whiskies"

Peat Chimney 8 Year Old (Ansgar's tastingnotes)
"Peat Chimney uses an Islay signature to give top notes of sweet smoke, iodine and peat. All are bottled at 40% and the range has both eight and twelve year old age expressions"

We have some more Wemyss Malts expressions at home, where we will be diving in to soon. Some editions of similar expressions released in different years, which appear to have a small difference in the recipe, making us curious to see what difference that makes. More Wemyss to come!

Thanks Wemyss and Steve for having us at this lovely Twitter Tasting!
